Whenever I walk around a city, one of my favorite things to do is to discover new murals to photograph. This is why I was so enthusiastic when I got a call from the Public Art Department of the City of Montreal to shoot the latest artwork they commissioned, a mural named “The World Within” by artist Jason Cantoro.

Having scouted the surroundings with PhotoEphemeris, I arrived on location at the perfect time to shoot the mural lit up by the setting sun. As usual for these projects, my lens of choice was a 24mm Tilt Shift. Although it was a pretty straightforward shoot, I enjoyed every moment of it, looking to showcase the artwork the best I could.

To wrap things up for the afternoon, I switched lenses and finished by capturing some details with my Tamron 24-70mm G2, another personal favorite of mine.

As the client suggested, a few weeks after the first part of the shoot, I went on a hike at the Mont-Royal Park (which surrounds the city) to capture the artwork in its urban context.

Thanks for viewing!
