Just Off The Press: Editorial Portrait of Internet Linguist & Writer Gretchen McCulloch for The Observer

Following my assignment for The Guardian in June, I was contacted by an editor from The Observer to photograph Internet Linguist & writer Gretchen McCulloch.

Because Gretchen’s favorite topic is internet lingo, I wanted to avoid the typical portrait in a book store and go with something a little more fun and original.

During my previous assignments, I had the opportunity to scout a couple of murals that could make for an interesting backdrop. As requested by my editor, I got a few shots with some accessories and even though these shots were not selected, I thought I’d be interesting to share them with you.

It was this last photo that was used by both the online version and the paper version of the article (see below).
