For its centenial ball, the ROM commissioned the studio to create an immersive, one-night...

Interiors Photography: Montreal Industrial Workspace for Carlos Designer – France

Some projects are more special than others and this one makes no exception. Located inside an industrial building, the design of this office space is eclectic and spectacular. Originally composed of small partitioned offices and covered with false ceiling tiles, the assembly was removed and opened to create an open space with windows overlooking the warehouses and on the outside. Different species of local wood were combined to form the backbone, the air blowing system was significantly changed, but all the existing metal structure has been preserved,...

How To: The Art of shooting Urban Skylines

From Montreal to Chicago and San Francisco passing by Hong Kong, Sidney and Kuala Lumpur, there are hundreds of beautiful skylines in the world. With each city featuring a specific architecture and unique natural surroundings, a skyline is a city’s visual signature. In essence, capturing skylines is all about creating a fingerprint of a city; it’s also about showing its life and soul through a single image. When shooting skylines, it’s important to include key landmarks into the picture. For instance, a Montreal skyline photograph without...

Architectural Photography: The Montreal Planetarium Rio Tinto Alcan by Cardin-Ramirez Julien and Ædifica

Last year, I had the pleasure to be the first photographer to access the brand new Montreal planetarium Rio Tinto Alcan. The building, designed by architects Cardin Ramirez Julien and Ædifica was inaugurated in April 2013. What I really like about the building is the mixed use of Wood and aluminum which makes for striking contrasts and a nice balance. So take a walk with me around the building and enjoy the visit. Just Off the Press: Masonry catalog covers for Rinox Canada

When I was contacted by Rinox Concrete Products manufacturer at the beginning of last summer, The first shoot was all about landscaping. Arriving early, my first task was to find two suitable angles for the front and back cover. Then, once the angles were found, the next issue was to find the right light to bring out the texture and the quality of the stone. For both of the shots below, we used construction lights present on-site to help create the perfect lighting conditions. For the front...
