Organized since 1995 and now reaching its majority with its 18th Edition, Bal en Blanc has become a real institution in the north american electronic music scene. With more than 15.000 people attending the event year after year, the 14h long Easter event is one not to be missed if you're an electronic music lover.

So for this week's facebook cover picture we're going directly west of Paris at La Defense financial district in Puteaux. Built in 2001 by architects Pei Cobb Freed & Partners,Roger Saubot and Jean Rouit, EDF building iconic skyscraper of 24 stories one of the highest of La Defense at a 165m high.
To capture this scene, A Nikon D700 was used along with a Nikkor AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8 G IF-ED VR at 70mm.Regular curves and levels adjustments were performed in Adobe Photoshop CS5.

For this week's facebook cover photo, we are travelling all the way to California on the road CA-190 E between Lone Pine to Stovepipe Wells in Death Valley (note that the location on map is approximative).
What's remarkable about this shot, it's the sense of scale that the couple gives to the picture. Add the clouds and you have the recipe for a breathtaking landscape.
This was captured using a D200 with a Nikkor 18-200mm F/3.5-5.6 VRII at 46mm.

Recognized as one the best Nikkor portrait lens, the Nikon AF DC-NIKKOR 135mm f/2 D (72mm filters, 818g, 1.1m close focus) is also one of the sharpest prime lenses available and has the advantage of a closer minimum focus distance than the Nikkor 70-200mm F/2.8 VRII.

A hidden gem located in the Luxembourg gardens in Paris, the unique perspective of the Medicis Fountain makes for a perfect facebook cover picture of the week.
This landmark, previously known as the Luxembourg grotto, the Medicis Fountain was ordered by Marie de Medicis, widow of Henri IV around 1630 to engineer Thomas Francine. Since then, the fountain was displaced and Alphonse de Gisors created this water alley of more than 50m.

Even though I've lived in Paris for 3 years back in the 2000s, I take even more pleasure capturing the city now that I don't live there anymore. Maintaining a fresh eye and a unique perspective is easier that way.

On my last trip to New York City, I had planned for a few HDR sessions during my stay, mixed in with some editorial shooting in NYC.

For this HDR "making of", 5 exposures were taken with a Nikon D700 + Nikkor AF-S 16-35mm f/4 G ED VR with the following settings:
exposure time: 0.6s (0EV), 1/6s (-2EV), 0.3s (-1EV), 1.3s (+1EV), 2.5s (+2EV)
focal length: 16.0 mm
aperture: F10.0
ISO: 200
Before taking the shot (see location), I waited for a bus to come into the frame for the longest...
After going to NYC more than three times without visiting the Rock, I thought I was due to take a few pictures and HDR of this majestic building.
As usual, pictures were taken with a Nikon D700 + Nikkor AF-S 16-35mm f/4 G ED VR and HDR were processed in Oloneo PhotoEngine and minor adjustments in Photoshop.
